BK Centre helped number One International Recruit to the Top Junior College in the United States

BK Player Development Center proudly announces a major recruiting success.

Favor Samson — a standout member of the Nigerian U19 National Team and recognized as the No. 1 national recruit — has officially committed to Chipola College, one of the top junior college programs in the United States.

From the beginning to the final decision, BK Player Development Center managed the entire recruiting process professionally and strategically. A few strong scholarship opportunities were secured and kept active until the final moment.

After careful evaluation of development fit, system style, long-term NCAA pathway, and competitive level, Favor selected Chipola as the best platform for her continued growth.

Under Head Coach Mitch Ross, the program is known for its athletic identity, speed, intensity, and disciplined structure — a system that perfectly matches Samson’s profile.

Standing nearly 6’7” (2 meters), Favor is an elite-level athlete: long, explosive, mobile, and highly competitive. Her physical tools and upside position her to thrive in Chipola’s fast-paced, high-energy environment.

This commitment is a strategic step.
The next target is a strong NCAA university program.
From there — opportunities at the highest levels of American college basketball, the Women’s National Basketball Association, and top professional leagues in Europe and international competition.

BK Player Development Center continues to build pathways — not just placements.

    The journey is just beginning.

BKCentre Helps Another Latvian Prospect Secure a Division I Pathway in the United States

BKCentre continues to expand opportunities for Latvian talent on the American stage.

Roberts Maks, a standout from Riga Juniors RBS CENTRS, has signed with South Georgia Technical College — one of the top junior college programs in the United States and a proven pathway toward NCAA Division I basketball.

Roberts developed in Riga under the leadership of Gundars Vētra — former NBA player and one of Latvia’s most respected coaches. Under Coach Vētra’s system, Roberts rapidly evolved from an under-the-radar player into a serious international prospect who drew the attention of BKCentre scouts.

An important influence on Roberts’ opportunity was Latvian guard Ralfs Iesalnieks, who currently plays for South Georgia Tech and is listed on the team’s official roster.

Ralfs’ presence in the programme — his work ethic, competitive attitude, team-first mentality, and consistent training habits — helped show American coaches what Latvian players can bring to the court. His professionalism and commitment significantly shaped how the South Georgia Tech staff views Latvian talent, making them more open and enthusiastic about recruiting players from Latvia.

Watching Ralfs’ success, the coaching staff became more confident in bringing in Baltic players, helping open doors for Roberts and other prospects.

Signing with South Georgia Tech represents a major milestone in Roberts’ evolution — not only as a basketball player, but as a young professional building a long-term career pathway. The American junior college route offers elite competition, exposure, physical development, and direct access to NCAA Division I programs.

Roberts possesses the athletic profile, discipline, and mentality required to join the next generation of elite Latvian players. This move significantly increases his chances of future consideration for the Latvian national team and long-term professional opportunities.

The transition to high-level American junior college basketball is not just another step — it is a strategic leap toward NCAA competition and professional development.

    We congratulate Roberts Maks.

    We acknowledge Ralfs Iesalnieks’ influence.

    We congratulate Coach Vētra.

And we congratulate Latvian basketball on strengthening its presence in American college programs.

BKCentre continues to build real pathways — and reputations — internationally.

  • Philipp Chesnokov — How Basketball and coach Boris Karebin Helped Change a Life

Philipp Chesnokov — How Basketball and coach Boris Karebin Helped Change a Life

Philipp Chesnokov, a Russian-speaking boy from Boca Raton, Florida, came into the gym three years ago with significant physical challenges and special needs. At the time, it was difficult to imagine that he would one day be able to run, train, or participate in regular physical activity.

When Philipp’s mother first brought him to Coach Boris Karebin, he was afraid of the ball, and starting practicing required tremendous effort. Numerous rehabilitation programs had produced limited results, and Philipp faced serious restrictions in movement and overall physical activity.

Coach Boris Karebin introduced an unconventional approach — a development program built through basketball. Training sessions were carefully adapted to Philipp’s needs, focusing not only on movement but also on creating new neural connections. The goal was to help the brain recognize and respond to sensory signals through the fingertips, feet, and coordinated body movement. Exercises included basketball fundamentals combined with extensive fine-motor skill development and coordination work.

Over the past three years, the transformation has been remarkable. Today, Philipp confidently shoots and scores baskets repeatedly, genuinely enjoying every training session. Basketball has become something he looks forward to, motivating him to move, practice, and challenge himself physically.

While certain limitations still remain, physically he now differs little from many of his peers. His movements are still developing, but the progress achieved during these three years represents an extraordinary breakthrough — one that has changed his life.

Philipp’s journey is especially powerful because he went from a child who could not imagine participating in sports to a young athlete who trains regularly and proudly steps onto the basketball court. Every time he enters the gym and scores a basket, players and coaches around him are inspired by his determination and progress.

Programs like this demonstrate that basketball is more than just a game — it is a path to independence, confidence, and self-belief.

Basketball became Philipp’s gateway to movement, joy, and independence. From a child who could barely walk to a young athlete scoring on the court is a victory of courage and perseverance. His journey proves that with the right guidance, every child can discover their strength, confidence, and joy in life.

Latvian guard and College Prospect Rihards Ivanovs — European Youth League MVP

Competing in the European Youth Basketball League, Ivanovs averages 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists per game, demonstrating balanced production and the ability to impact the game in multiple areas. His performances earned him recognition as the European Youth Basketball League MVP, highlighting his consistency and influence throughout the season.

Ivanovs is viewed as a developing European guard with realistic potential to transition into the American college basketball system. With continued progress, he has strong opportunities to pursue a career at the NCAA level.

Ivanovs made a mature and strategic decision early in his development. Instead of pursuing opportunities with lesser-known European clubs offering limited playing roles and resources, he chose to continue his growth in Riga under the guidance of an experienced and knowledgeable coaching staff. This decision allowed him to develop in a structured, high-level environment and quickly attract the attention of scouts, development programs, and university recruiters.

As a result, Ivanovs has already attracted the attention of BK Center as well as multiple college programs.

A key factor in his development has been training under head coach Gundars Vētra, a former NBA player whose professional experience helps prepare athletes for the structure, pace, and expectations of American college basketball. Much of Ivanovs’ growth and achievements are closely connected to this high-level coaching environment.

With continued development and exposure, Ivanovs projects as a disciplined and intelligent European guard capable of successfully adapting to NCAA basketball, while keeping long-term potential pathways open toward high-level European professional leagues and future NBA opportunities.

BK Center Proudly Announces Ralfs Isalnieks selection to the All-American JUCO Invitational Showcase Invitational

Coach Boris Karebin and BK Center are proud to announce the continued success of our Latvian student-athlete Ralfs Isalnieks, currently competing for South Georgia Tech College, who has been officially selected to participate in the prestigious All-American JUCO Invitational Showcase, taking place July 10–12.

This elite summer event brings together some of the nation’s top junior college prospects and provides a high-level platform for athletes to perform in front of college recruiters, NCAA programs, professional scouts, and basketball decision-makers from across the country. Invitations are extended only to a select group of players, making this recognition a significant achievement and a testament to Ralfs’ development, dedication, and performance on the court.

The showcase has a strong tradition of highlighting future professional talent. Over the years, similar events have featured players who later advanced to the highest levels of basketball, using this stage as an important step in their careers. Participation in such an event places Ralfs among some of the most promising junior college prospects in the nation.

Ralfs’ journey represents years of discipline, perseverance, and continuous growth. His development has been shaped not only by his personal commitment but also by the strong foundation built through international experience and structured player development.

BK Center proudly recognizes the tremendous work ethic demonstrated by Ralfs and the people who stood behind him throughout his journey. His father, Juris, who was also his first coach, and his mother, the director of a basketball sports school, played a crucial role in supporting and guiding him through the challenges of pursuing high-level basketball. It was Juris who personally reached out to Coach Boris Karebin, seeking an opportunity that would allow Ralfs to take the next step in his career and compete at a higher level — a decision that ultimately helped open the door to junior college Division I basketball.

We strongly believe this showcase will become an important breakthrough moment for Ralfs, helping him gain even greater confidence, reveal the full spectrum of his abilities, and present his talent to NCAA programs, college coaches, and NBA scouts. His selection reflects the power of hard work, belief, and the support of a dedicated family and development environment.

At BK Center, our mission is to help committed athletes transform opportunity into achievement. We are confident that Ralfs’ success is only the beginning, and we look forward to seeing more players from our program follow a similar path toward the highest levels of basketball.

Stay connected with BK Center and follow our upcoming news as we continue developing the next generation of international basketball talent.
