Kirill Kapinos Shines in NWAC Playoffs, Chasing an Opportunity at NCAA Division I

Kirill Kapinos is a talented forward with Ukrainian roots who also gained valuable playing experience in Germany before continuing his basketball career in the United States. Now competing in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC), Kapinos is completing his second season at the junior college level and continues to demonstrate strong development as a player.

Throughout the season, Kapinos has established himself as one of the most productive and reliable players on his team. He averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds per game, while shooting an impressive 56% from the field. His consistent performance earned him All-Region Second Team honors, recognizing him among the top players in the conference.

As the postseason began, Kapinos elevated his level of play even further. His team won several key games during the conference tournament and successfully advanced through multiple rounds of the playoffs, winning the Sweet 16 round of the NWAC tournament and reaching the conference semifinals.

In one of the most important postseason games — the NWAC Sweet 16 — Kapinos delivered a standout performance with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks, shooting at a very high percentage from the field and leading his team to a crucial playoff victory. He capped off the game with a powerful highlight dunk in the final moments, sealing the win and energizing the crowd. Fans can watch that impressive dunk in the video below.

With the season approaching its final stage, Kapinos is now focusing on the next step in his basketball journey. The talented forward has already received confirmed interest from programs at the NCAA Division II level, but his primary goal is to earn an opportunity to compete at the NCAA Division I level.

During the upcoming offseason, Kapinos plans to dedicate himself to intensive training and development, continuing to refine his skills, improve his physical strength, and prepare for the next level of competition. His goal is clear: to impress Division I coaches and earn a roster opportunity at the highest level of college basketball.

In addition to his progress on the court, Kapinos is also a strong student academically, which keeps multiple collegiate opportunities open. With two full years of NCAA eligibility remaining, he still has valuable time to continue developing and proving himself.

As his performances in the Northwest Athletic Conference playoffs continue to attract attention, Kapinos remains focused on his long-term goal — earning the opportunity to compete at the NCAA Division I level and taking the next major step in his basketball career. 🏀
